Infatuation

--

I fell in love with myself in your presence -
the perfect infatuation.
You opened what was closed tight.
I’m grateful for your mania
because it opened me to accept
the next wave of life’s true pleasure.
All today’s ecstasy is built
on yesterday’s illusions with you.
So I go easy on you in my memory
when I should probably string you up
along with all my own hangable offenses.
